With 140 seats we cater six days a week for
around 3000 people, who enjoy everything from a simple tea and traybake, to a
full 4 course lunch. Everything we serve is made from scratch in our kitchen,
from ingredients we grow ourselves or source from trusted local producers. Our
restaurant is open Monday to Saturday from 9.00am–4.30pm.
We raise our own beef and chicken. We collect our own eggs each day from our free range hens. Why do we do it? Simple – you just can’t beat home-grown, and the flavour and texture makes all the hard work worthwhile. Our customers care about the origin of their food, and we know that home-grown is best.
We have a number of trusted local growers who supply our veg and seasonal fruit. This is County Down food at its best.
Morning, lunchtime and late afternoon we have something for every taste. Our huge cinnamon scones are legendary, you can see them being carried from the oven every day. Looking for a modern healthy twist on the Ulster Fry? we’ve got it. Soup, sandwiches, or something more filling, or maybe your sweet tooth needs daily attention. Download our menu wherever you are, and then come and taste the quality for yourself.
You can have us all to yourself! The restaurant is available in the evenings for
group bookings where we’ll serve you and your guests. We have a variety of menus
for you to pre-book from – enjoy the ambience of the wood stove and the views
across to Scrabo while you catch up with old friends for the evening. We’re
always in demand so please enquire early for available dates.
We are proud to say that we believe we have some of the best chefs in Northern
Ireland on our team, and we allow them space to be creative, coming up with new
dishes to delight our customers. Trained chefs turn quality home-grown produce
into something special.
Week after week, there are some gems from our menu that our customers can’t get enough of. Next time you call in, ask for our Chicken Maryland, our Bread and Butter Pudding, or our amazing Pavlova and Strawboffee. Our delicious sausage & mash, our traditional dinners and our home-made mince, steak or chicken pie are big favourites with our customers.
Whilst all of our food is excellent, there are some which are supreme. Even though McKee’s is a family farm, our Fish Cakes won a 2013 Great Taste UK Gold Award – made from fresh Portavogie seafood. And if you don’t mind us bragging for a moment, our rib-eye steak, from our own home-reared cattle, is exceptional.
